Hand wash with warm soapy water, wash both sides, and dry it standing on edge. Never the dishwasher - one cycle can warp or split a board. Oil it with food-grade mineral oil when the wood starts to look dry: about once a month at first, then every few months. Light knife marks are normal. A light sand and a fresh coat of oil brings it right back.

On our solid walnut and sapele boards, yes. One slab, no glue, no laminated strips. Glue lines are where boards eventually split, and it is the one failure sanding cannot fix. Our walnut and cherry striped boards are hand-laminated from three pieces, and we say so plainly on those listings.
